Certificated Transactions

Processing of transactions where shares are still held in paper format.

Unlike a number of our competitors, we recognise that certain clients still prefer to hold share certificates and may still hold certificates representing holdings which they have had for many years.

Our systems have been created to cope with certificated trades, in addition to the more flexible electronic nominee services. It is not necessary for the certificates to be held by ourselves.

We may accept telephone instructions from existing clients, who will be sent a contract note and transfer form on the day of a sale transaction, which is then simply signed and returned to us with the covering share certificate. Certificated trades do take longer to process through the settlement system and such sales are usually undertaken on a T+10 basis, i.e., settlement two weeks after the bargain date. It is possible to arrange shorter settlement periods, providing the stock can be delivered in a timely manner.

We apply an extra charge for certificated transactions due to the additional administration and to provide for a recorded delivery service for Share Certificates dispatched to you.
