To be based at 28 Park Square West, Leeds, LS1 2PQ

The Company may at any time transfer the candidate to any part of its business, or require you to do alternative or additional duties, if this is reasonably required for the purpose of its business

Hours start: 7.30am/8.00am 

Duties

 1.       Take orders on an execution-only basis from clients and obtain market maker prices, and either route the bargain through an RSP or agree it by telephone with the market maker.

2.       Execute orders (Equities, Futures, Unit Trusts, Options) at best price in line with regulatory guidelines.

3.       Establish and maintain good working relations with market makers and other stock market participants.

4.       Resolve dealing, cash, corporate action queries and perform reconciliation work.

5.       Manage a pool of advisory clients, giving clients advice on request, e.g. on the state of the market, stock picking within a sector, special situations (where dealing is indicated because a security is temporarily over or under valued) and the best time to put the deal through.

6.       Be aware of the firm’s investment view, including the composition of current model portfolios and buy/sell lists.

7.       Be aware of company valuations, stock situations, topical price sensitive information, stock market conditions and economic trends.

8.       Ensure that all operations affecting his/her clients are carried out in accordance with FSA rules, for example, avoiding abuses such as insider trading, churning and front running, establishing that up to date client agreement letters are on file for his/her clients, and ensuring that all clients get contract notes, valuation reports, client packs and other documents on a timely basis (usually every three or six months). If uncertain on FSA rules, consult compliance staff to obtain a ruling.

9.       Actively seek new business, working closely with marketing staff, e.g. attending exhibitions, being active in local social/business circles, following up leads, explaining the firms’ services to potential new clients and following up all opportunities to win new clients.

 

Skills Set:

FSA Registered person

Previous experience of dealing directly with market makers and negotiating prices.

Previous experience of managing a book of advisory clients.

Have a working knowledge of market data applications and platforms e.g. Proquote, Fidessa

Working knowledge of markets, especially UK equities, and be fully in touch with current market events and price movements

Working knowledge and understanding of Unit Trusts 

Working knowledge and understanding of Futures & Options dealing, CFDs, Derivatives.
